A few weeks ago I received an email from SleekLens.com to do a review of some of their lightroom presets, in exchange for the presets for free. So being a bit of a tart for free things I agreed. I was sent the "Through the Woods" (https://sleeklens.com/product/landscape-lightroom-presets/) preset pack containing 50 presets and 30 brushes. I haven't had a chance to play with the brushes a lot yet, but they apply different effects using the brush tool in light room similar to the teeth whiting and iris enhancing brushes.

Since they sent me a landscape focused pack I decided to go with a recent image that was a commissioned project for a client of mine. It is a shot of Downtown Kansas City looking south from the Charles B Wheeler Downtown Airport just a bit after sunrise one chilly morning this past winter. The starting image is actually my final image I had printed for my customer. So my basic edits and some minor photoshop work had already been applied to the image.

Original Starting Point

This is the base edit I started each image with. The following images are all based off of this one, but with the SleekLens presets applied. They have some "All In One" presets, and they have additional presets that you can work through to layer each one on top of the previous. It starts with 1. Base, then 2 Exposure, 3 Color Correct, 4 Tone / Tint, 5 Polish, and 6 Vignette.

So you can apply the all in one, or mix and match 1 through 6 to get the specific look you are going for.

1 through 6 work flow

This edit is using the 6 different "Sections" of presets to achieve a custom look.

This one uses the following presets.

Autumn Colors

Less Highlights

Desaturate

Subtle Black Vignette

As you can see I only used 4 of the six to get this look. the "Autumn Colors" preset really makes it look like it was shot in the fall, but I can assure you, it wasn't.

Calm Sunset

This edit was done using one of the "All in One" Presets. This one is called Calm Sunset.

A Cinematic Edit

This edit is done using the individual selections (1-6). Below are the presets I used on this one.

Our first Black and White Edit. Another All in One. This time titled MidRange Splender. A softer more muted edit for sure.

Pastel Caress

Such a soft touch of the All in One, "Pastel Caress".

The Real Teal

All in One - The Real Teal. You can see a definte shift in the color tone of the sky on this one towards the teal.

The Royal Treatment

All in One - The Royal Treatment. I think I see a shift towards purple in the sky. I wonder if that has anything to do with the royal treatment.

Warm Shadows

I love laying the warm sun. I have never found shadows to be warm, but that is what this All in One is titled - Warm Shadows.

Wide open Spaces

MonoChromo Fantasy

This is the last of the edits, and the last of the individual preset edits. A bit of a more punchy black and white. The individual presets (1-6) used are as follow. MonoChrome Fantasy
